Exhibition at Ivy Hill Gallery 2019
Conservation of threatened species, especially in the area where I live, is the theme of my work for an exhibition at Ivy Hill Gallery, Wapengo, New South Wales from January 17th to February 17th 2019. The other participating artists are Cheryl Davison and Katherine Boland. An on line catalogue is available at http://www.ivyhill.com.au/
Corunna Sea-eagle Monument is a sculpture about the threat to a nesting sea-eagle with two young when their habitat was destroyed by the State Forestry Industry to within 50 metres of the tree they inhabited, despite public protests at the needless logging and woodchipping of native forest.
Gannet Monument features images inspired by dead sea birds washed up on a nearby beach. Often these creatures have signs of interference from man made materials such as fish nets and plastics.
